Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, the most important ting is to stay positive and be creative, I hope to see you soon in Madeira when we finally finish our property search :)
“Start saving at 20’ and you forgot ‘work in the public sector’. So many channels out there catering to a very small percentage of the population. I love your pragmatic approach for the rest of us! I’ve watched you from the start and it is great to see you in your lovely new home 😊
You just nailed it! If we all had to do it over we would work in the public sector. Retirement would be a dream. But that's all right because it's not over until the xxx lady sings ... As Leslie's mother would have said.
Thank you for your video. We have long enjoyed your calming presentation. There is always something said to help us to appreciate, and to reflect. You have a talent that is unique to you. You are of an age that captures my attention; and perhaps that is why I find it difficult to give the same koodles to your son when he delivers his experiences. We have lived here in Northern Portugal (from the USA) for decades. I enjoy hearing about the journey of others; thus is why I have followed you.
Portugal - simplistic sales patter - as income taxes increase to 48% on fairly moderate income with few deductables, and sales tax is 23% on the mainland
Olá! Thanks for sharing. But I really don't understand why so negative. Every country has taxes that must be accounted for before you move. You should always do your own research. If you went to the USA there is every chance that you would spend all of these tax moneys on Healthcare.
I agree because my healthcare cost are outrageous, to say the least. My numbers are showing an overall cost reduction of $40k per year, once we move to Portugal in 2025.
@@BMAC5306 i completely understand. the caveat i would add is even in the private sector the wait can be 4 to 6 months depending on the speciality....the reception areas of private facilities often look like public hospitals - packed
I cannot wait to have time (I know awful to say...but) to get into the program I bought! Actually not sure I can make it working another year! IDK I still have surgeries to get done also. ugh Cannot wait to say finally am on my way to a new life! Sounds fab! Always great content. Gotta say that was some rushing water and wow what a walk!!!! Thank you guys!
another of my pennies worth - Portugal has a very hit and miss health system. I use the private sector mostly and public for family doctor. There aren´t general hospitals in the true sense in the private system. I live near the spanish border and I would say that Spain is, in direct comparison, very much in front of Portugal, especially health. In fact the Spanish system is very good by International standards. The retirement visa income requirement is €2400 pm for 1st applicant and €600pm for the second. Houses can be quite a bit cheaper. (I´m a CPA and UK CA ret´d, and married to a GP for many years, in PT for 15 years.)
Thanks for your pennies worth. Good information! One thing that an American must keep in mind is that If you want to get a Spanish passport you would be required to give up or US passport. So that knocks Spain out for many of us from the USA. But we do love Spain.
Sir, u r mostly taking about retirement? What about someone like in their 30s, with a 9 year old kid. We need information on school and jobs in IT space
